The history of the Karnataka State Audit and Accounts Department dates back to 1950.
Previously known as Examiner, Local Fund Accounts, the Department was redesignated as Controller, State Accounts Department.
Further, the name of the Department has been changed to “KARNATAKA STATE AUDIT AND ACCOUNTS DEPARTMENT”.
The employees and officers of the State Audit and Accounts Department work in various positions in the Department mainly doing the auditing of Grama Panchayats, Urban Local Bodies, Universities and other autonomous bodies as ordered and assigned by the Government from time to time.
Since the officers and employees are scattered across the state in various department and organizations, it is felt necessary that there should be an association to garner their strength towards the development of the Department and at the same time to undertake certain measures for the welfare of all the employees.
To enable the employees and officers of the Department to perform their duties efficiently and make them leave the ‘mark of excellence’ wherever they work.
